Lost: A portrait of Chet Baker

Plaster with rust

30cm high

Chet was a legend of the jazz trumpet who went the way of many jazz players of his era, drugs getting the better of him. The difference in appearance between the 19 year old Chet and the 58 year old is striking to say the least. This sculpture is inspired by John Claridge’s well known photo taken not too long before Chet’s early death.

The piece was made in terracotta but can be seen below in plaster with rust finish.. It has been selected for show at the Society of Portrait Sculptors annual exhibition, FACE 2023, in Chelsea.

Edition of 6. £ 600 each
